MERRY CHRISTMAS

Wishing everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS. Hope this day brings prosperity in everyones life.

Here is a Christmas Carol which is quite famous(Jingle Bells) :

Dashing through the snow

On a one-horse open sleigh,

Over the fields we go,

Laughing all the way;

Bells bob-tail ring,

making spirits bright,

What fun it is to ride and sing

A sleighing song tonight

Jingle Bells Jingle Bells,

Jingle all the way!

O what fun it is to ride

In a one-horse open sleigh

A day or two ago,

I thought I'd take a ride,

And soon Miss Fanny Bright

Was seated by my side;

The horse was lean and lank;

Misfortune seemed his lot;

He got into a drifted bank,

And we, we got upsot.

Jingle Bells Jingle Bells,

Jingle all the way!

What fun it is to ride

In a one-horse open sleigh.

A day or two ago,

the story I must tell

I went out on the snow

And on my back I fell;

A gent was riding by

In a one-horse open sleigh,

He laughed as there

I sprawling lie,

But quickly drove away.

Jingle Bells Jingle Bells,

Jingle all the way!

What fun it is to ride

In a one-horse open sleigh.

Now the ground is white

Go it while you're young,

Take the girls tonight

And sing this sleighing song;

Just get a bob-tailed bay

two-forty as his speed

Hitch him to an open sleigh

And crack! you'll take the lead.

Jingle Bells Jingle Bells,

Jingle all the way!

What fun it is to ride

In a one-horse open sleigh.

The Over

Aint this a bit of an absurd title for a blog.

Well this over signifies the six subjects which we had in our last semester and since an over in the game of cricket so an over with each paper representing each ball of the over with the paper setters being the bowlers.I will say how each bowl was for me being the batsman.

1st ball
DCS-II : A yorker but very artfully defended by the batsman.

All the questions were centered around a single topic,though it was important it was quite unfair for the students who worked hard to prepare other topics because unlike the topic which came in the exam others required a lot of memorization ,so eventhough I was able to attempt all the questions but I was not satisfied .Hence it was a mixed baggage for me

2nd ball
Java:A short delivery which was easily handled by the batsman and hit hard

A good mix of application and theory and I was satisfied after writing the answer sheet.So,it was a good paper.

3rd ball
CA : A totally unplayable bouncer

All the questions were totally out of the blue for the students and everyone was shocked after coming from the exam hall so it couldn't have been worse than this.This was the only positive I could see after the exam.

4th ball
LINUX : A good ball which was treated with respect by the batsman

The exam was quite simply set and the most of the difficult topics were not covered in the paper,but seeing the amount of syllabus it was expected to be a tough paper .But,it was not meant to be,hence,quite satisfactory paper which was handled well.

5th ball
DBMS : A prejudged short length ball outside the off stump

I was afraid since I was overconfident in this subject but,the paper setter takes my respect for setting the paper according to my strength .A totally satisfactory paper required quite a lot of thinking required to attempt the application based questions and theory questions were such that if you are clear with the concepts one could attempt them

6th ball
OB : Full toss hit hard

Totally light exam with only basics required to be studied and minimum effort required in preparation.So,quite easy paper aptly handled

PS :
I am saying how I handled the papers.How many runs I score will be decided by the examiner who is the fielder

Lazy

All I can say that I am laziness personified,no one can be lazier than me.I am one person who will try to find the easiest possible way to do the task with minimum effort and quite unusually be successful in doing that also.

You people will agree with this seeing that although I had pledged to be a regular blogger,I am not what is what you can conventionally call "REGULAR".Every time I know what excuse I have to make before I start a new blog so this blog should have been titled rather aptly"The Exploits of a Lazy Soul",rather than "World from my eyes".

I like doing things at my own pace and in my own way.I spend more time thinking and planning , after that if I am not too late,I do what is required.the plans made are extravagant and larger than life and purely fictional.But,once I get down to doing the things I end up completing them in a matter of moments. So all that can be said is I am lazy but still enthusiastic.Its what is called laziness with a difference

Xams Over

Hey guys!

I know that I had promised to be a regular blogger ,but what to do the predicaments of a tech student stopped me from writing more regularly.
My fifth semester xams have just concluded yesterday and still I am lazy enough to write the next post today.

Only I can tell you how the past two weeks of the end term theory and the earlier weeks for external practicals and internal theory and practicals passed. Looking back all I can think is that it was not at all that bad and I did leave some scope for hard work.But,as I believe its better to look on the positive side and be happy,then look at the negative side with a mindset developed to think it can be avoided in the future.

The exams were not really that bad and I am all ready to take the full responsibility for whatever the result comes.I have given exams being less prepared but,this time around it was a bit different.The preparation was done with a different mindset altogether.I did not work for the result.Rather,I worked to enjoy what i was doing and it really helped as right now am not scared of whatever the result is going to be,I know that I tried and whatever the result is will be deserved by me,and most importantly I, like the past did not CHEAT,which is a common phenomenon in the college exams for many students.
These people do score more than me,but ,I do not feel bad as I think in future my application of concepts will help me more than the marks obtained by cheating,or mugging up of concepts.
All I pray to god is that my faith in this belief should not be shaken.
Amen!

New Me

As the golden saying goes.........In this world there is nothing permanent other than change.
So let it be.

Long time no post.Think I had been suffering from writer's block....lol.....nice excuse not to write.
But yeah I think I have changed a lot in the time i have not posted anything.After all thats what life is ....CHANGE.If you try to resist change it will destroy you.

A more positive attitude has been developed.Trying to enjoy when i go wrong and take the past away from myself that has been the major lessons learnt by me.
Past is a teacher,but can never be our goal.

We can learn from our past but can never go back to it.The hallmark of a successful man is how he balances past present and future.

Learn from past,live in present and plan for future.That is the approach i now follow.Laughter is now my integral part.Rest what can i write??

All I can say I have changed but it is still not complete....its a different me which I feel

Twenty20

Yipeeeeeee India wins the T20's first ever world cup.It was an amazing tournament with the players pumped up.
India's tournament began on a sour note with their first game washed out.But the kind of cricket they played in the next games made them the worthy champions.The mood is ecastic with celebrations on everywhere.
The team we had in this tournament had all players chipping in at the crucial moments,and ensuring that the game was never lost.The very first match showed their resolve by holding onto their nerves eventhough Pakistan needed only 1 run from 2 balls ,and ensuring a draw .Then they won in the bowl out.
The only game they lost was to New Zealand,even that match had a close finish.The next 4 games including finals were do or die situation for India.They beat England.Then it was South Africa's turn who were beaten by a comfortable margin in Durban,ensuring that the Africans couldn't make it to the semis,then the might of the Aussies crumbled in front of the Indians and they lost the game by 15 odd runs.
In the finals it was India v/s Pakistan the mother of all competitions that too a T20 world cup final.The match was a close one with India stealing the victory from Pakistan.

This makes INDIA the CHAMPION of T20 Cricket.
All the Indians out there hail the almighty

Everyone says there is no language barrier for laughter but what one doesn't know is that there are different ways in which one can laugh. I will list a few styles,please add comments on the styles I am missing here.

1.LOUD He He:The most common form of laugh it is also the most innocent form.

2.Devil Laugh:This one scares the hell out of people.You can hear it from miles and feel shiver

3.Mischief Laugh:It is a normal He He kind of laugh but the tone and the eyes of the person tell the intentions of that person

4.Tyre Puncture Laugh:You can identify this one because when you hear it it gives u a feeling that there must be a vehicle nearby whose just had a flat

5.Hyna Laugh:This is not a true laugh.It is there to insult someone

6.False laugh:This one does not reach the person's eyes.He laughs to please someone or out of frustration at his own self

Thats it.These are the only ones of which I could guess If there are any more please leave me a comment.

Sudan Crisis

The look on this child's face says it all.While the media is busy covering Iran Iraq Afghanistan etc. No one has bothered to show to the world what is happening in the rest of the world .For the past 5 the conlict has been raging on in Darfur.It has so far claimed 450,000 lives and displaced around 2 million ,along with that it has left around 4 million people dependent on outside aid.

This conflict has made Sudan the most unstable nation of the world.This has made Sudan to allow more peace keeping forces on its soil.

The security and human rights situation in Darfur has deteriorated since Sudan's government and one of the rebel factions signed peace agreement on 5th May 2006 .The situation is so severe that US Government has Darfur aerial Bombardment as the first genocide of 21st century.

Working of Stock Exchange

A stock exchange, share market or bourse is a corporation or mutual organization which provides facilities for stock brokers and traders, to trade company stocks and other securities. Stock exchanges also provide facilities for the issue and redemption of securities, as well as, other financial instruments and capital events including the payment of income and dividends. The securities traded on a stock exchange include: shares issued by companies, unit trusts and other pooled investment products and bonds. To be able to trade a security on a certain stock exchange, it has to be listed there. Usually there is a central location at least for record keeping, but trade is less and less linked to such a physical place, as modern markets are electronic networks, which gives them advantages of speed and cost of transactions. Trade on an exchange is by members only. The initial offering of stocks and bonds to investors is by definition done in the primary market and subsequent trading is done in the secondary market. A stock exchange is often the most important component of a stock market. Supply and demand in stock markets is driven by various factors which, as in all free markets, affect the price of stocks.

There is usually no compulsion to issue stock via the stock exchange itself, nor must stock be subsequently traded on the exchange. Such trading is said to be off exchange or over the counter. This is the usual way that bonds are traded. Increasingly, stock exchanges are part of a global market for securities.

Overcrowded in SPACE:NASA steers clear

Traffic in space is getting so congested that flight controllers in the past few weeks have had to nudge three spacecraft out of harm’s way, in one case to prevent the craft from colliding with its own trash.

On July 23, controllers in Houston raised the orbit of the International Space Station by roughly five miles to avoid hitting a half-ton tank of ammonia that a spacewalking astronaut had tossed out earlier in the day while doing some housecleaning on the $100 billion outpost.

Another episode took place on July 4, as the nation relaxed for the holiday. Ground controllers at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md., fired up the engines on NASA’s CloudSat, a $217 million environmental satellite that peers inside cloud formations with a powerful radar, to dodge a mini satellite launched by Iran in 2005.

Officials and private space experts say episodes like these illustrate the danger of a drastic rise in satellites and space debris in Earth’s orbit. Early this year, after decades of growth, the federal catalog of detectable objects (four inches wide or larger) orbiting Earth reached 10,000, including dead satellites, old rocket engines and junkyards of whirling debris left over from chance explosions and weapon tests.

Now, that number has jumped to 12,000. China’s test of an antisatellite weapon in January and four spacecraft breakups in February, one of them mysterious, have contributed to the buildup of debris. Space officials worry that a speeding bit of space junk could shatter an object into dozens or hundreds of fragments, starting a chain reaction of destruction.

Experts said that moving spacecraft out of the way to avoid collisions, once a rare way of dealing with potential threats, is becoming increasingly common.

On June 22, nearly two weeks before the CloudSat maneuver, ground controllers at Goddard nudged NASA’s Terra, an environmental satellite, out of harm’s way.

American space experts had calculated that debris from China’s antisatellite test might hit the $1.3 billion spacecraft, which can gauge environmental health by measuring changes in the greenness of the planet’s surface.

The Chinese weapon test, on Jan. 11, shattered an aging weather satellite into hundreds of bits, in what space experts describe as the worst satellite fracture of the space age.

Soon after that, four more breakups added to the debris problem: On Feb. 2, a new Chinese navigation satellite suffered an apparent engine failure that left it in dozens and perhaps hundreds of pieces. On Feb. 14, an abandoned Russian engine broke into roughly 60 detectable pieces, apparently because residual fuel had exploded.

On Feb. 18, a retired spacecraft jointly developed by China and Brazil suddenly and mysteriously broke into dozens of pieces. American experts suspect it was the victim of a collision with other space debris.

Then on Feb. 19, a large Russian space tug exploded, apparently from residual fuel, creating a cloud of about 1,000 pieces of detectable debris.

Orbital Debris Quarterly News, a NASA publication, noted that at least three of the four breakups appeared to have been preventable if more caution had been exercised in designing and operating the vehicles.

Boeing 777

Air India is now going to acquire 68 new aircrafts of which there is going to be a new fleet of boeing 777-200 LR and ER so I thought y not try and get sum information on it from the way i see it.Technological point of view.

The Boeing 777 is the first jetliner to be 100 percent digitally designed using three-dimensional computer graphics. Throughout the design process, the airplane was "pre-assembled" on the computer, eliminating the need for a costly, full-scale mock-up.

Boeing is offering its 777 customers new innovations that take advantage of the space in the overhead area of the airplane -- the area located between the top of the stow bins and the crown of the airplane. These innovations will allow operators to use the overhead space for crew rest stations and storage.

Thanks to a new wing, more efficient engine, and a lighter structure, the 777 makes efficient use of fuel. And this, in turn, means lower emissions per passenger seat. For every pound of fuel conserved, three fewer pounds of carbon dioxide are generated. The bottom line: Fuel efficiency isn't just good for economics, it's good for the environment.

Boeing 777 Facts
  • The first 777 entered service on June 7, 1995. Since then 777s have flown more than than two million flights.
  • There are 3 million parts in a 777 provided by more than 900 suppliers from 17 countries around the world.
  • In 2004, the 777 reached 500 deliveries -- faster than any other twin-aisle commercial airplane in history.
  • On Feb. 15, 1996, the 777 was named winner of the prestigious Robert J. Collier Trophy by the U.S. National Aeronautic Association. The award honored the Boeing 777 as the top aeronautical achievement of 1995.
  • The 777 is capable of cruising at altitudes up to 43,100 feet.
  • Boeing engineers designed and electronically pre-assembled the 777 using computers. New laboratory facilities enabled the various airplane systems to be tested together as a single integrated entity in simulated flight conditions, before the first jetliner took to the air.
  • The 777's landing gear is the largest ever incorporated into a commercial jetliner. With six wheels on each main landing gear, and two wheels on the nose gear, it has an unmistakable footprint.
  • The Industrial Designer's Society of America presented its Industrial Design Excellence award in 1992 for the 777 passenger cabin, and in 1993 for the 777's flight-deck design.
  • On Nov. 9-10, 2005, a Boeing 777-200LR Worldliner set a new world record for distance traveled non-stop by a commercial jetliner. The 777-200LR set a record distance of 11,664 nautical miles (21,601 km) on a route traveling eastbound from Hong Kong to London (Heathrow). The flight lasted 22 hours and 42 minutes. The achievements was recognized by the U.S. National Aeronautics Association, The Fédération Aéronautique Internationale and the Guinness Book of Records.
  • The Fédération Aéronautique Internationale recognized the Boeing 777 in April 1997 for achieving a speed and distance record for airplanes in its size and class. The 777 set the "Great Circle Distance Without Landing" record, traveling 10,823 nautical miles (20,044 km), and it set the record for "Speed Around the World, Eastbound," traveling at an average speed of 553 mph (889 km per hour).
  • The 777-200LR (Longer Range) -- the world's longest range commercial airplane -- was named in 2000 to Popular Science magazine's top 100 list.
  • The 777 is named in a song by Dire Straits' Mark Knopfler. The song is contained on the CD "Sailing to Philadelphia."
  • The 777 is the first airplane to have a rose named after it. The rose is deep purple-red with a citrus-like fragrance. It was developed by Olympia, Wash., Western Independent Nurseries.
  • On May 30, 1995, the 777 became the first airplane in aviation history to earn U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval to fly extended-range twin-engine operations (ETOPS) at entry into service. On that date, the FAA awarded 180-minute ETOPS to the Pratt & Whitney-powered Boeing 777.
  • The 777 underwent the most extensive flight-test program ever conducted on a commercial jetliner. The flight-test program included nine airplanes, which flew more than 7,000 hours and 4,900 flights.
  • The data shared and transferred on the network during the design phase of the 777 program totaled 1,847,930,000,000 bytes of production data.
  • Today's 777 operators enjoy a 99 percent dispatch reliability rate -- the highest amongst all twin-aisle airplanes in service today.
  • The flight-control system for the 777 airplane is different from those on other Boeing airplane designs. Rather than have the airplane rely on cables to move the ailerons, elevator, and rudder, Boeing designed the 777 with fly-by-wire technology. As a result, the 777 uses wires to carry electrical signals from the pilot control wheel, column, and pedals to a primary flight computer.
  • There is approximately 50,000 cubic feet of volume in a 777-300, and 40,000 cubic feet in a 777-200.
  • A lightly loaded 777 can accelerate from zero to 60 mph (96 km/h) in less than six seconds.

India US Nuclear Deal

I was going through the New York Times yesterday's edition and was going through the way the media there was skeptical about the concessions given to India for producing nuclear fuel.The media is saying that although India has not signed Nonpoliferation Treaty why is it being given permission to produce nuclear fuel on its own.

But,there is a catch that there has to be separate facility to reprocess nuclear fuel .One thing that is not clear is that America's law states that in case India does another nuclear test then the supply of nuclear fuel to India would be stopped but now the deal does not say anything in particular about such an eventuality.

The Indian National Security Advisor seems to be all to pleased with the deal

Out and out I feel that the United States is now recognising India in its true value.It can now see the benefits of aligning with this country which is the world's largest democracy.

Along with that India can be a strategic business partner too with such a big market and investment opportunities.So its a win win treaty for both the countries with a nuclear deal in hand India can now embark on more futuristic plans for civilian use of nuclear fuel.

God Bless the country.

29-07-2007

Well I dont kno wat else to title this blog...........so let it be remembered by the date on which it is written.

I started yesterday with a bit of thought on madame president now let me start my inner thoughts about the current state of affairs in our national capital region.Wat i mean to ponder about is the blueline crisis looming large over this region .

THe government was first sleeping over the whole thing and nw it is tryng to show its power by doin some real shabby coverups possible.In the earlier case and nw the common man remains the sufferer. Earlier his life was on the mercy of these devils on wheels as one never knows who would be getting beneath the wheels of blueline next.

Now thanks to our Government we have a new problem at hand the earlier is present even now but now we are also seeing shortage of buses with a large number of them off the road.This is now allowing the already indisciplined autodrivers to make merry by fleecing the harried travellers.

Those people who are lucky enough to get the DTC or bluelines end up packed like sardines in the buses with no care being taken towards them.The tug of war is even now continuing between the bus operators and the government with none seem to be relenting and the common man is the one who is suffering because of this.

This is one picture that tells the commuters' woes all too well.

Hope we all get better facilities soon.

Return

Hi ppl. This is a return to the bloggers world after a long span of time.There has been a lot happening in my life and in the world around me.Due to exams and a project later on I could not write more after my last post.

I am now planning to read Harry Potter and the order of phoenix. But writng its review is not my primary concern.I would rather comment on the present political situation in India with us people getting our first WOMAN PRESIDENT or so the Congress would like us to believe.

I am not a political observer but am informed (through newspapers) and obsarvant enough to see what the actual value of Madam President is. She was a compromise canditate as there was no unanimous decision amongst the congress for their candidate.On seeing the past President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalams record I can clearly observe that the only thing that stood between him and his second term was is ability to send some bills back to the Parliament for reconsideration.Now with Congress government in the centre and Congress nominee as the President of India .who is herself a loyal of the Gandhis I have my own doubts on her ability to do justice to her role.What I can say now is that 'Only Time Will Tell' what lies in future for our country.

God Bless the country.

Be Happy

Today, upon a bus, I saw a girl with golden hair

I looked at her and sighed and wished I was as fair.

When suddenly she rose to leave,

I saw her hobble down the aisle.

She had one leg and used a crutch

But as she passed, she passed a smile.

Oh, God, forgive me when I whine

I have 2 legs, the world is mine.

~~~
I stopped to buy some candy
The lad who sold it had such charm
I talked with him a while, he seemed so very glad
If I were late, it'd do no harm.
And as I left, he said to me,
"I thank you, you've been so kind.
It's nice to talk with folks like you.
You see," he said, "I'm blind."
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I have 2 eyes, the world is mine.
~~~

Later while walking down the street,

I saw a child with eyes of blue

He stood and watched the others play

He did not know what to do.

I stopped a moment and then I said,

"Why don't you join the others, dear?"

He looked ahead without a word.

And then I knew, he couldn't hear.

Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.

I have 2 ears, the world is mine.

~~~
With feet to take me where I'd go.
With eyes to see the sunset's glow.
With ears to hear what I would know.
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I've been blessed indeed, The world is mine.
~~~~~~

Sorrow looks back,

Worry looks around,

Faith looks up

India...Our Country

The country is free but is it??
We call ourselves intelligent but are we??
We keep our House clean what about our city??

We call the system bad But can we change it??
We call for a change......But are we ready??
We want to be the world Power....but with Hungry people??
We live in luxury....In a country where farmers commit suicide due to poverty...

We say the politicians are corrupt...But can we Enter elections and change that??
There is so much that can be done But are we willing??
Its easy to point fingers...But not easy to work...
This is our country ....But are we ready to change it??

We have miles to go before we become one
Hurdles to cross before we become strong..

The divide is there ....But do we want to remain divided??
The cry of the child in riots...Is it his cry or the nations cry for unification??

People I want you to get united
As this is our nation....Meant for us
Let us not spoil this paradise by the division
The development is for us and division is against us...

AAD external(two more to go)

Hey today is Aditi(my friend's) birthday.....had wished her yesterday only......made up a nice poem...or was it really nice....ask her...she will be able to tell...........

Enough of Yesterday.........today was my AAD(Algorithm analysis and Design) viva .....dont dwell much into what it is....even we(the students) have not been able to figure that out in the last 6 months.......By gods grace I got up early today....5:45am........isnt that surprising.....Even I was surprised by this achievement of mine.......kinda studied for an hour or so...didnt see the watch....so it is a very wild guess........then loitered around and studied till 9:00........started with my programmin.......I was browsing orkut side by side ....but I dun kno wat to do abt the guy called Puppy Lamba....wat I can do I wont disclose it here..........i dun want him to be on alert....then at 12:00 pm I dashed out of my house....had to be in college by 2:00 pm.....................nw the frustrating prt begins...I waited half an hour for the stupid RTV ...........then once it came....it stopped near underpass to help some other RTV guy....causing great delay........somehow I managed to reach college by 1:30 and thank god for that .....as soon as I reached college my classmate informed me that the practical will begin at that very moment....this is not all I had to pick a sheet randomly for our programs...........I selected a sheet then kept it back.........then took another sheet........Imagine my luck when I came to know that the sheet I had selected earlier had the simplest of all the programs......aargh.......this is what I feel right now....

SE External Viva...

Finally the End Term Practicals have begun........Had a nice time making the practical.....But the wait for the viva was frustrating....a bit too much......but it went well.....At least thats the way I believe....(By the way SE stands for Software Enginneering for the uninitiated.)
The day began slowly ........... I was at my laziest best.....kinda feeling ok ok.....but not wanting to go to the college....finally I managed to leave house half an hour late....(quite an achievement considering usually i m late by at least an hour).........before that...I was busy chatting with my frnds on the net...orkut is a great community site....Hail its creator....I m makin new frnds......

Living my life....But the way I m leading it....... is it called living??
Studying for marks...is it really studying??
Making new frnds...or are they my frnds???
Laughing with my mouth wide open....amI really laughing??
These are the questions I have...Or are they the answers?
